As legal counsel for The Odenton Historical Society and through his volunteer work as a counselor with Addictions Recovery, Inc. (Hope House) and South Shore Recovery Club, Inc., Mr. Sinclair is continuing a strong commitment to community involvement that is a tradition in both his family and his wife’s. His late father, Richard G. Sinclair, was long active in leadership positions in the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department and Calvert County Historical Society. The late Murray D. O’Malley, his father in law, co-founded both the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company and the Greater Odenton Improvement Association, as well as donated the land for the Odenton Health Center. The Catherine O’Malley Senior Center in Odenton is dedicated in memory of Mr. Sinclair’s late mother-in-law.
Professional Experience
In 1995, Ron became a member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys and has devoted his practice to providing quality estate planning services to his clients. Commited to helping families preserve their hard-earned dollars through the use of the living trust, an estate planning tool that gives the family control while alive and after death, he began presenting free informative seminars to enlighten and educate people of their estate planning choices and the possible consequences of those choices. In 1996, his daughter, Colleen Sinclair Prosser joined the firm and together they have invested their time and energy into helping their clients gain control from erosion caused by guardianship, probate, and taxes. High levels of skill and integrity and their standard of professional excellence has earned them the coveted AV rating in the Martindale Hubbell Register of Preeminent Lawyers.
Education
Ron earned both his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering and his Juris Doctor degree from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. He also completed graduate work at St. John’s College of Annapolis. A member of the Maryland, District of Columbia, Prince George’s and Anne Arundel County Bar Associations, he has handled cases at all levels of the Maryland court system and in various court systems for the District of Columbia. He held many appointed positions, including Assistant County Attorney, Attorney to the Board of Zoning Appeals and Bowie City Attorney. In 1976, he founded Freestate Title, Inc., a real estate settlement company with offices in Prince George’s, Anne Arundel and Queen Anne’s counties. When he sold his interest in 1988, the company was handling more than 3,000 real estate settlements a year through five branch offices.
Personal Profile
Born and raised in the District of Columbia, he and his wife, Mary Louise, who recently retired after 37 years on the staff of several United States Senators, reside in Gambrills with their Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Bradley. The next generation of Sinclairs includes his five children and a gaggle of grandchildren, all residing in the local area.
